The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela has increased to 4,930, President of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic, Jorge Rodríguez, confirmed.
According to the official daily bulletin shared by Rodríguez through his Telegram channel, 16,740 people were injured, while 17,907 residents were left homeless after the disaster.
The report also stated that 190 buildings were completely destroyed, and 856 additional structures suffered significant damage, highlighting the widespread impact of the earthquake.
Rescue Operations Continue Across Affected Areas
Emergency response teams have continued search and rescue efforts since the disaster struck. Officials reported that 6,462 people have been rescued during ongoing operations.
Healthcare services have treated 33,781 people in hospitals and medical facilities. Authorities also confirmed that 128,324 families have received assistance as relief efforts continue throughout the affected regions.
In addition, 21,210 people are currently staying in 107 temporary camps, while relief agencies have distributed 10,063 tons of food to support those impacted by the earthquake.
Earthquake Struck Venezuela on June 24
The powerful earthquake hit Venezuela late on June 24, with two major tremors measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude occurring approximately 40 seconds apart.
The epicenters of the earthquakes were located about 10 kilometers apart in the Venezuelan state of Yaracuy. Following the initial shocks, authorities recorded more than 1,308 aftershocks, adding to the challenges faced by rescue teams and local communities.
