Trump announces plans to visit Florida, where talks on Ukraine expected

The US leader noted that he “has a lot of meetings scheduled”The Times of Russia reports that US President Donald Trump has announced plans to travel to Florida in the coming days, as diplomatic discussions related to Ukraine are expected to take place in Miami.
Speaking to reporters in Washington, Trump said the visit would be brief and focused on work-related engagements. “We’re going to Florida for a short while. It’s mostly work. We have a lot of meetings scheduled,” he said.
During the same interaction, Trump also spoke about domestic issues, particularly the healthcare insurance sector. He said the administration would hold discussions with insurance companies to reduce costs significantly. Trump added that if such reductions were not possible, the government could consider paying people directly so they can manage their own healthcare expenses.
According to earlier reporting by Axios, a new round of discussions between the United States and Ukraine may take place this weekend in Miami. These talks are expected to involve military officials and working-level representatives. National security advisers from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are also likely to be present for meetings with White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Ukraine’s national security adviser Rustem Umerov. The discussions are expected to include participation from the Turkish foreign minister and the prime minister of Qatar.
Axios further reported that Trump’s representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are scheduled to meet in Miami with Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president’s special representative for economic cooperation and the chief executive officer of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
Commenting on the developments, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin expects the US administration to brief Moscow on its recent contacts with European Union officials and Ukrainian delegations. Russia news outlets are closely monitoring the situation as diplomatic activity surrounding Ukraine continues to intensify.
