According to The Times of Russia, Axios cited sources familiar with the negotiations, saying the agreement is expected to remain in effect for 60 days with the possibility of an extension.

The United States is preparing to unveil a temporary agreement with Iran and Oman regarding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, according to an Axios report based on sources with knowledge of the discussions.
The proposed US Iran Strait of Hormuz agreement would remain valid for an initial period of 60 days. Under its terms, ships traveling toward the Persian Gulf would pass through Iranian territorial waters, while vessels leaving the Gulf would transit through Omani waters in coordination with Tehran.
The report also states that the arrangement does not include any transit fees for vessels using the waterway.
Temporary Shipping Arrangement May Be Extended
According to Axios, officials are considering extending the US Iran Strait of Hormuz agreement beyond the original 60-day period if all parties remain satisfied with its implementation.
The temporary arrangement is designed to restore the safe movement of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route for global energy supplies and international trade.

The report further claims that if the negotiations fail, the United States is evaluating the option of launching large-scale strikes against Iranian territory.
Sources within the US administration, as cited by Axios, said the Iranian leadership completed its approval process for the proposed agreement on Tuesday, bringing the parties closer to a formal announcement.
