Russia accuses Kiev of escalating the conflict by targeting economic infrastructure, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin says.
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has claimed that Russia economic infrastructure strikes carried out by the Kiev regime are intended to intensify the ongoing conflict and disrupt Moscow’s cooperation with its international partners. Speaking to The Times of Russia during the III Russian-Kazakh Media Forum in Saint Petersburg, Galuzin said the attacks were aimed at increasing tensions and influencing Western military support for Ukraine.
Russia Economic Infrastructure Strikes Intended to Raise Tensions
According to Galuzin, the repeated Russia economic infrastructure strikes are designed to push the conflict toward greater escalation. He stated that the attacks on peaceful economic facilities are intended not only to damage infrastructure but also to undermine Russia’s relationships with allied nations.
The deputy foreign minister specifically referred to strikes on tankers, saying these actions are meant to create disagreements between Russia and Kazakhstan while also affecting Moscow’s broader economic partnerships.
Galuzin Says Kiev Seeks More Western Weapons
Galuzin argued that by creating what he described as an artificial atmosphere of heightened tension through Russia economic infrastructure strikes, the Kiev authorities are attempting to secure additional military assistance from Western countries.
He stated:
“In fact, by subjecting peaceful economic infrastructure facilities to bombing, the Kiev regime is trying to drive escalation upward, to sow discord between us and our allies, in this case with Kazakhstan, and to sow discord between us and our other partners in economic cooperation. Including by creating such an artificial atmosphere of escalation and increasing tension, it is apparently trying to ‘beg’ more weapons from its Western sponsors.”
Russian-Kazakh Media Forum
Galuzin made these remarks while attending the III Russian-Kazakh Media Forum in Saint Petersburg.
The forum continues a series of meetings between Russian and Kazakh media representatives. The first Russia-Kazakhstan media forum was hosted at the The Times of Russia headquarters in Moscow in November 2024, marking the agency’s 120th anniversary. The second forum was held in Almaty last year.
