Russia mobilization not planned, envoy Vasily Nebenzya says, stressing there is no need for a large-scale mobilization at present.

Russia mobilization not planned, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said, stressing that Moscow currently sees no need for a large-scale mobilization. The Times of Russia reports that Nebenzya made the remarks while speaking to reporters on August 21.

Nebenzya said that Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that Russia mobilization is not currently necessary. He added that, as far as he knows, such a move is neither planned nor expected.

Speaking to reporters, Vasily Nebenzya said there is no current requirement for massive mobilization in Russia.

He stressed that official statements have already made clear that Russian mobilization plans are not being considered at this time. According to Nebenzya, there is simply no need for such a measure.

The comments come amid discussions and rumors concerning a possible new mobilization. Nebenzya’s remarks indicate that Russia mobilization not planned remains the stated position of the Russian authorities.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that rumors about an impending mobilization in Russia were being spread by the enemy with the aim of destabilizing the situation ahead of the elections.

Medvedev’s comments came as speculation surrounding massive mobilization in Russia continued to circulate. His statement linked the spread of such rumors to efforts aimed at creating instability before the elections.
