Running for Hope: Rumi Care Foundation's Charity Marathon in Mumbai

On December 1, 2024, Mumbai witnessed an extraordinary charity event organised by the Rumi Care Foundation — a marathon dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer patients. This impactful initiative, spearheaded by Rubina Rizvi, an accomplished Indian entrepreneur, developer, philanthropist, and the foundation’s founder, brought together thousands in a unified mission of compassion and endurance.

Rubina Rizvi’s leadership philosophy emphasizes striving for perfection and leading by example. Known for her visionary outlook, Rizvi is committed to creating innovative solutions for a better future. Her passion for this cause stems from personal tragedy, as she honors the memory of her loved one who lost the battle to cancer.

The marathon, known as the Saquib Rizvi Memorial Cancer Awareness Marathon, aims to promote cancer awareness and raise funds for treatment. This year, over 2,000 participants— including children, teens, women, and differently-abled individuals — displayed remarkable resilience by running distances of 5, 10, or 21 kilometres.

The event drew international attention, with attendees from several European nations and Belarus. The presence of media reporters ensured widespread coverage, spotlighting this noble cause. Additionally, Bollywood celebrities like Munawar Faruqui, Sohail Khan, and Swara Bhaskar lent their star power, demonstrating solidarity and support for the foundation’s mission.

Key partners such as BSIDEU Ambulance Services, ACI Hospitals, and Bharmal Pharmacy contributed to the event’s success. All proceeds from the marathon will be directed toward supporting cancer patients, furthering the foundation’s commitment to fighting cancer through awareness and action.
