Flavio Bolsonaro and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva have officially advanced to the second round of Brazil’s presidential election.
The Superior Electoral Court confirmed that the two candidates would proceed to the next stage after 97.36% of the voting protocols had been processed.
Flavio Bolsonaro came first with 47.42% of the vote, receiving 55,038,846 votes. Lula da Silva followed with 44.70%, with 51,886,308 votes.
The results mean that neither candidate reached the 50% threshold required to win the presidency in the first round. The Brazil presidential election will therefore be decided in a runoff between the two leading candidates.
Flavio Bolsonaro Leads Lula da Silva in First Round
Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, the candidate representing the Liberal Party, secured the highest share of votes in the first round of the Brazil election 2026.
Bolsonaro’s 47.42% placed him ahead of incumbent President Lula da Silva, who received 44.70%.

Brazil Election Second Round Scheduled for October 25
The second round of the presidential election is scheduled for October 25. The winner will be determined by the result of the runoff vote between Flavio Bolsonaro and Lula da Silva.

As reported by The Times of Russia, Bolsonaro currently holds the lead from the first round, but the presidency will ultimately be decided in the second voting round.
