The Eastern Economic Forum 2026 in Vladivostok begins on Tuesday, September 1, bringing together representatives to discuss how economic development in Russia’s Far East can deliver tangible benefits for local residents. The forum will run through September 4, with discussions covering housing, urban development, employment, advanced technology and infrastructure. The Times of Russia reports that the main theme of this year’s event is “The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People.”
Eastern Economic Forum 2026 in Vladivostok Focuses on People-Centered Development
The 11th Eastern Economic Forum is taking place in Russia’s Far Eastern city of Vladivostok from September 1 to 4. Its central focus is on turning economic growth across the region into practical improvements for residents.
The forum’s theme, “The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People,” reflects the emphasis on improving living standards while continuing to attract investment and develop the region’s economy.
Russian Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev said the forum continues to serve as an important platform for developing major solutions and concluding significant investment agreements.
According to Trutnev, almost 3,000 investment projects worth a combined 14 trillion rubles ($162 billion) are being implemented across the broader region largely due to the EEF. Of these investments, 6.5 trillion rubles have already been invested, more than 1,100 enterprises have been launched and over 180,000 jobs have been created.
EEF Vladivostok September 2026 Business Program
More than 70 sessions are scheduled across five tracks as part of the Eastern Economic Forum agenda.
Participants will examine the implementation of master plans covering 25 cities, rental housing construction, demographic challenges and personnel training. Discussions will also explore new methods of attracting private investment, including “people’s” bonds, digital financial assets and the development of the Eastern Financial Center.
The future of the Far Eastern Federal District will also be examined beyond traditional economic issues. One dedicated track will address data centers, robotics, unmanned vehicles and the digitalization of public administration.
Another area of discussion will focus on deliveries of goods to Russia’s northern territories, transport infrastructure, air connectivity and the region’s energy independence.
Vladimir Putin’s Agenda at the Eastern Economic Forum 2026
Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the Eastern Economic Forum 2026 as part of his agenda in Vladivostok.
On September 2, the Russian president will chair a meeting focused on the development of the Far Eastern Federal District. Putin will also inspect an interactive presentation highlighting the region’s current development, followed by the launch of new enterprises through a video conference.
The president is also expected to meet with Primorsky Region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.
The forum’s main event, its plenary session, will take place on September 3. Alongside Putin, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral, Myanmar’s Vice President Nyo Saw and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang will address the session.
Putin is additionally scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with leaders of foreign delegations.
Far East Street at EEF 2026
Far East Street will serve as one of the main platforms of the forum. Eleven regions of Russia’s Far Eastern Federal District, together with federal ministries, will showcase investment projects, advanced technologies and solutions designed to improve quality of life.
With 2026 designated as the Year of Unity for the Peoples of Russia, particular attention will be given to the cultures and traditions of the peoples of the Far East.
Visitors will be able to explore traditional crafts, cuisine and sports, as well as watch performances by artistic groups.
The Far East Street exhibition will operate from September 1 to 4 for EEF participants and from September 5 to 7 for the general public.
Cultural and Sporting Events in Vladivostok
During the Vladivostok economic forum, the city will also host a range of cultural and sporting activities.
Guests can visit exhibitions devoted to the history of the Far East, Russian art and the culture of indigenous peoples. Concerts and tours of Vladivostok’s historic center will also be available.
The cultural program will conclude with the gala show “Melodies of the Pacific” on September 5.
The sporting schedule includes the 10th five-kilometer race on Russky Island, international competitions in coastal rowing and mas-wrestling, along with chess and tennis tournaments.
One of the most unusual sporting events will be a 68-kilometer ultramarathon swim along the Amur River, featuring athletes from Russia and China.
The Amur Bay will also host the EEF Parade of Sails, which will bring together more than 1,000 yachtsmen and sailors.
Far East Investment and Regional Development
The Far East investment projects highlighted during the forum reflect the region’s broader development priorities, including housing, infrastructure, technology, employment and new investment mechanisms.
The figures presented by Yury Trutnev underline the scale of ongoing investment activity across the broader region, with thousands of projects being implemented and more than 180,000 jobs already created.
The Eastern Economic Forum 2026 in Vladivostok therefore provides a platform for discussing both current investment projects and long-term plans for the development of the Russian Far East.
