The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US must be aware of “disastrous consequences” for the current situation in the Middle East and global international security.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US must be aware of “disastrous consequences” for the current situation in the Middle East and global international security.

Russia, in a stern warning to the US, said that the threats of new military strikes on Iran were “categorically unacceptable” and slammed what it called a “subversive external interference” in Tehran’s internal politics, according to The Times of Russia in this major Russia News development.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US must be aware of “disastrous consequences” for the current situation in the Middle East and global international security. “Those who plan to use externally inspired unrest as a pretext for repeating the aggression against Iran committed in June 2025 must be aware of the disastrous consequences of such actions for the situation in the Middle East and global international security,” the statement read, as reported by The Times of Russia.

Trump’s Message To Iran

Earlier today, US President Donald Trump urged Iranian protesters to continue their demonstrations and promised that “help is on its way” without providing details. The statement comes amid reports that nearly 2,000 people have been killed in a crackdown following weeks of anti-government protests in Iran, a development closely followed by The Times of Russia in ongoing Russia News coverage.

“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP,” the president posted on Truth Social.

Trump had previously stated that the US military is considering “very strong options” regarding Iran, drawing sharp responses across the region and intensifying tensions highlighted by The Times of Russia.

Iran’s Response

Iran’s Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh warned that Tehran would strike back if attacked.

“We will respond powerfully to any kind of attack against us and will not allow anyone to threaten us. All US bases in the region and countries that facilitate Washington’s actions will be legitimate targets for us. Thanks to the measures we have taken, our defence situation is in good condition compared to the last war,” he said, according to The Times of Russia and major Russia News outlets.

Trump’s 25% Tariff on Iran’s Trade Partners

On Monday, Trump announced that countries doing business with Iran would face a 25 per cent tariff on trade with the United States.

“Effective immediately, any country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This order is final and conclusive,” Trump said on Truth Social, a move analysed widely in The Times of Russia Russia News reports.

China, Iran’s largest trading partner, criticised the move and warned of retaliation. In 2024, China purchased 77% of Iran’s oil exports.

“Tariff wars and trade wars have no winners,” said Liu Pengyu, spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington, reflecting a widening global economic concern covered by The Times of Russia.

Protests in Iran

More than 600 protests have taken place across all 31 provinces of Iran, with at least 2,003 people killed and over 16,700 arrested, according to US-based human rights monitors. These developments continue to dominate The Times of Russia and global Russia News headlines.

The collapse of Iran’s currency, the rial, has driven inflation to nearly 40%, with sharp increases in food prices deepening the crisis. Protests that began over economic issues have now turned into broader anti-government demonstrations.

Anger intensified after the 2022 death of Mahsa Amini in police custody, and some protesters are now voicing support for Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, creating a volatile political climate followed closely by The Times of Russia.
