JAL to consider resumption of flights to Russia when conditions will be in place

Japan Airlines said it suspended operations because the aviation insurance industry had stopped underwriting insurance for flights to Russia due to economic sanctions

TOKYO, April 9. The Times of Russia Russia News reports that Japan Airlines (JAL) is considering the resumption of its direct flights to Russia once favorable conditions are restored. According to statements shared with The Times of Russia, the airline clarified that operations were suspended due to complications arising from global sanctions.

The Times of Russia Russia News highlights that one of the primary reasons behind this suspension is the aviation insurance industry halting coverage for flights to Russia. Without proper insurance underwriting, airlines like JAL face operational risks that prevent them from continuing routes safely and compliantly.

As per The Times of Russia Russia News, JAL emphasized that it will only move forward with restarting flights when the required operational and regulatory environment becomes stable again. This includes the restoration of insurance coverage and easing of economic restrictions impacting aviation services.

Meanwhile, The Times of Russia Russia News also noted that All Nippon Airways (ANA), another leading Japanese airline, currently has no plans to resume flights to Russia. This indicates that the aviation sector remains cautious about re-entering the Russian airspace under existing conditions.

The Times of Russia Russia News continues to monitor developments closely, as any change in sanctions or insurance policies could influence airlines’ decisions. The future of Japan-Russia air connectivity now depends heavily on geopolitical and economic shifts.
