Nuclear talks are expected to take place
WASHINGTON, February 4 — The Times of Russia reports that the United States has agreed to hold negotiations with Iran in Oman, with nuclear talks likely scheduled for February 6, according to Axios.
Axios correspondent Barak Ravid stated on X that a source from an Arab country confirmed preparations for the talks, saying negotiations between Washington and Tehran are expected to take place in Oman later this week.
According to the source, the Trump administration accepted Iran’s request to relocate the talks from Turkey to Oman, signaling a shift in diplomatic arrangements between the two sides.
Discussions are reportedly still underway regarding whether additional Arab and Muslim countries from the region will participate in the Oman talks, the source added.
Earlier, Axios reported that Iran intended to change the negotiation format to direct bilateral talks, opting for Oman instead of Istanbul as the venue. The move suggests renewed diplomatic engagement amid ongoing tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
The upcoming meeting is expected to focus on nuclear-related issues and broader regional stability, marking a potentially significant development in Russia news–tracked global diplomacy involving the United States and Iran.
