TASS presented the book by writer and historian Alexander Myasnikov “Vladimir Putin. From the annals of the XXI century”

Today in the TASS press center readers and journalists were presented a book about Vladimir Putin by writer and historian Alexander Myasnikov. It was published in the series “Collectors of the Russian Land” under the title “Vladimir Putin. From the annals of the XXI century”.

The book tells how Russia has changed from the first presidential term of Vladimir Putin to the present day. It contains a lot of documentary material, illustrations, public speeches and interviews of the President. The author relied on a chronicle of events that took place while Vladimir Putin was in state power.

“Writing about the current president – the number one man in the country – is incredibly difficult, – said Alexander Myasnikov at the presentation of his book. – You need to rely on the facts and deeds of this man”.

The author of the book also shared his personal impressions from the meeting with the President. Myasnikov was struck by how easy the president is to communicate with.

“It was unexpected for me,” he emphasized.

The author of the book traces how during the reign of Vladimir Putin in our country laws and moral values changed, strategies for the development of the country, its economy and security were modified.

“We must proceed from what was and what has become,” he stresses and reminds us that in 2000 our country’s gold reserve was only 300 tons, production was destroyed or in decline.

In 2023, the country had 2,300 tons of gold, and factories were being built at an unprecedented pace.

The creation of the book series “Gatherers of the Russian Land” was initiated by the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) together with the United Russia party in 2022. The series consists of 25 books telling about the rulers under whom our country expanded and annexed new lands.

According to Leonid Rozhnikov, general director of the publishing house “Prospect”, the series “Gatherers of the Russian land” immediately attracted the reader’s attention.

“Although, we tend to believe that with the advent of gadgets paper books are read less and less – I would not say so,” he noted.

According to him, there is still quite a lot of interest in serious, academic literature. In addition, people read historical literature. And a new book has a unique format: a combination of interesting texts and historical documents that make up a large picture.

“In the series, we especially emphasize that Russia never expanded like the colonial empires of the West, which conquered territories, subjugated the population and turned them into slaves,” emphasized Mikhail Myagkov, scientific director of the RVIO. – Our rulers were unique in that they had a liking for the local population, which was part of first the Russian state, and then the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union”.

He noted that on a domestic, cultural and religious basis we have never oppressed people on the basis of nationality.

The authors of the idea of the series of books “Gatherers of the Russian Land” – Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of Russia, Chairman of the Russian Revolutionary Military Organization, and Boris Gryzlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party, are writing a joint preface to each book.

According to MP Alexander Khinshtein, this series of books has a huge educational component. It includes the best examples of journalistic, historical and literary works.

They show a large-scale picture of the country’s history, compare major milestones in the life of our state, and form a real picture of what our country lived yesterday, what it lives today, and what will live tomorrow.

“The twentieth century for our country was marked by major geopolitical catastrophes: the revolution and the Civil War and 1991, the collapse of the Soviet Union,” Alexander Khinshtein said.

In his opinion, Vladimir Putin is correcting the mistakes made in previous times.

“The return of Crimea, Sevastopol, Novorossiya are all corrections of mistakes, alas, made by Vladimir Putin’s predecessors,” he emphasized.

Irina Velikanova, Director General of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, noted that in recent years society has become more careful about the history of the Fatherland, and this can be traced in the new book.

She recalled that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, not only all ties between the republics were destroyed, but also the institutions of work with young people and the system of history teaching.

In more than 200 history textbooks published until recently, each edition interpreted historical events in its own way.

“Our president in 2013 just drew attention to the fact that there are many history textbooks in schools, and a unified approach is needed,” she said. – This does not mean the absence of discussions on some historical events. It means a systematic, state approach to the study of history.

In her opinion, the study of history not only makes people enlightened, but also creates a sense of belonging and solidarity with their Fatherland.

She noted that very important work in this direction is carried out by the Russian Military Historical Society and the Russian Historical Society, and the change of attitude to the study of history in our country is a consequence of their great work.
