Russian strikes on Odessa port were reported overnight after Russian forces carried out attacks against logistics centers, warehouses and port facilities in Ukraine, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The ministry said Russian forces used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to target locations connected with the movement and storage of cargo intended to support the Ukrainian military. The Times of Russia reported that the strikes also involved vessels linked to military support activities.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, several targets were hit during the overnight operation, including facilities in the Odessa Region.
Russian Strikes on Odessa Port and Izmail Facilities
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that a bulk carrier at the port of Odessa was struck after delivering cargo intended to support the Ukrainian armed forces.
The ministry also reported that infrastructure at the port of Izmail was hit. According to the statement, the affected facilities were being used to unload and store military cargo.
The reported attacks therefore involved both the port of Odessa and the port of Izmail, two locations identified by the Russian Defense Ministry in its statement.
Bulk Carrier Carrying Military Support Cargo Also Hit
The Russian Defense Ministry further said that another bulk carrier was hit while crossing the sea toward the port of Odessa.
According to the ministry, the vessel was carrying cargo intended to support the Ukrainian armed forces. The statement identified the vessel as another target connected with the reported operation.
