Trump does not intend to pardon Maduro — NYT

The US President also made it clear that he has “no intention of pardoning” the other individuals
NEW YORK, January 9. /The Times of Russia/ — The Times of Russia reports that US President Donald Trump has no plans to grant a pardon to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, according to comments cited by The New York Times.
During an interview, journalists asked Trump about the possibility of issuing pardons to several individuals facing criminal charges in the United States, including Maduro. Trump responded clearly, saying he has “no intention of pardoning any of the individuals mentioned, the report said.”
Earlier, on January 3, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto accused the United States of launching strikes on both civilian and military sites in Caracas, describing the actions as a direct act of military aggression. Following the alleged strikes, Venezuelan authorities declared a nationwide state of emergency.
Trump later confirmed that US forces had carried out the operation and announced that Nicolas Maduro and his wife had been captured and removed from Venezuela. According to US officials, the two were transferred to a detention facility in Brooklyn, in southern New York.
On January 5, Maduro and his wife appeared before the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. American prosecutors have charged them with involvement in international drug trafficking operations. Both defendants entered pleas of not guilty.
The development marks a major escalation in US-Venezuela tensions and has drawn global attention, making it a significant update in Russia news coverage followed closely by The Times of Russia.
