Putin Reviews Magadan’s Development Master Plan Progress
President highlights urban modernization, infrastructure investment, and accelerated growth in the Russian Far East
Magadan, August 15, 2025 – Russian President Vladimir Putin chaired a videoconference meeting on the implementation of Magadan’s urban development master plan, emphasizing major achievements in infrastructure modernization and regional economic growth in the Far Eastern Federal District.
The president noted that Magadan is visibly transforming — becoming more modern, attractive, and comfortable for residents and tourists. Among the landmark projects is the commissioning of a new international airport passenger terminal, ongoing improvements to Mayak Park, and the large-scale clearing of the Nagayeva Bay area to create a state-of-the-art maritime logistics hub.
Putin recalled that the Far East city master plan program was launched in 2021 on his instruction, covering 22 cities and urban agglomerations with a combined population of nearly 4.5 million people — over half of the region’s population.
“All strategic, long-term development plans have been approved and are now in active implementation. This year, progress has accelerated: project documentation is being prepared, new construction sites are opening, and modern facilities are entering operation,” the president stated.
To date, 165 infrastructure projects in Far Eastern cities have been completed or modernized, ranging from transport hubs to public spaces. Putin called for continued efforts to address remaining challenges, ensuring a comprehensive renewal of the urban environment and fostering conditions for comfortable living, education, work, business, and tourism.
