“It’s Time to Return to God: A Call for Humanity to Rediscover Faith Amidst Global Suffering”
UN Anniversary Marks New Era in Human Civilization
In a world grappling with suffering and strife, many voices are urging a return to spiritual foundations, believing that humanity’s disconnection from God is the root cause of its present challenges. On October 24, 2024, the BRICS Culture Media Forum (BCMF) hosted the conference “A New Era of Humanity – BRICS Global Initiatives on the UN Agenda” in Moscow’s Moscow Art Gallery, coinciding with both the anniversary of the United Nations and the conclusion of the BRICS summit in Kazan. The event underscored an urgent need to reconnect with the Creator and encouraged collective reliance on faith to address today’s complex global issues.
BCMF Communications Director Dr. Sergey Dvoryanov, along with Dr. Jaan Nissar Lone, BCMF’s Global President, and Konstantin Krylov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Branch of UPF UN, led the conference, presenting a draft declaration aimed at shaping BRICS-UN collaborations. “Our civilization must reorient itself to foundational values. It’s time for humanity to return to God,” Dvoryanov asserted.
Opening the event, diplomat and political scientist Sergey Markov referred to BRICS as a “constellation of civilizations,” calling the alliance’s partnership with the United Nations an essential step forward. Highlighting the Kazan Declaration of 2024, Natalia Kanivets, a UN expert on gender issues and Editor-in-Chief of Women’s Success, emphasized the importance of BRICS initiatives in aligning public diplomacy with the UN’s humanitarian efforts.
Notable among the attendees was Gustavo Uranga Mendivil, Official Representative in the Russian Federation for MERCOSUR, who shared how Latin American leaders are inspired by BRICS and are actively seeking closer partnerships, citing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s participation in the Kazan summit as a significant milestone.
The highlight of the conference was the solemn reading of the proposed BRICS-UN Declaration draft by Konstantin Krylov, followed by his keynote on the history of the United Nations and the Universal Peace Federation, which now holds General Consultative Status in the UN. Krylov’s reflections on the UN’s creation and the principles of universal peace underscored the necessity of unity and spiritual integrity in global governance.
In his closing remarks, Sergei Dvoryanov delivered a powerful message on the role of faith in human progress. Reflecting on the initial omission of the word “God” in the UN’s charter due to opposition from the USSR and China in 1945, he celebrated Russia’s recent constitutional changes reintroducing the term and expressed hope that the UN will follow suit. “We are living in extraordinary times,” Dvoryanov proclaimed. “It’s time to return God to humanity and for humanity to return to God.”
