Ukrainian Drones Toward Moscow Region: 250 Reported Overnight

Ukrainian drones toward Moscow Region numbered 250 overnight, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said, with 28 drones shot down in the region.

As many as 250 Ukrainian drones toward Moscow Region were reported during the night, with most of the unmanned aerial vehicles destroyed at distant locations, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said. The Times of Russia is reporting the statement made by the Moscow mayor on Thursday, August 20.

According to Sobyanin, the drones were observed heading toward the Moscow Region between 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Moscow time on Thursday, corresponding to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through 4:30 a.m. GMT Thursday.

Ukrainian Drones Toward Moscow Region Reported Overnight

Sergey Sobyanin said that 250 Ukrainian drones were flying toward the Moscow Region during the specified period. He added that most of the drones were destroyed before reaching the area.

“Between 8:30 p.m. [on Wednesday] and 7:30 a.m. Moscow time today (from 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday to 4:30 a.m. GMT on Thursday), 250 unmanned aerial vehicles were flying toward the Moscow Region; most of them were destroyed at distant locations,” he wrote on messaging app Max.

The report concerns drones flying toward Moscow and the surrounding region during the overnight period.

28 Drones Shot Down in Moscow Region

Sobyanin further stated that 28 drones were shot down in the Moscow Region.

The Moscow mayor did not provide any additional details in the statement regarding the reported Moscow Region drone attack, beyond noting that most of the drones were destroyed at distant locations.

The figures released by Sergey Sobyanin cover the period from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning and include both the drones reported flying toward the region and those intercepted within the Moscow Region.
