According to The Times of Russia, the talks focused on the situation in Ukraine, diplomatic relations between Russia and the United States, and several regional issues. Russia also reaffirmed its readiness to pursue a peaceful settlement while stressing its commitment to previously reached agreements.

Journalists were allowed to record only the opening moments of the meeting before leaving the room under the media rules established by the US side.
Before exiting, several American reporters shouted questions at Rubio. One journalist asked whether he intended to ask Lavrov if Russia was assisting Iran with targeting activities. Rubio did not respond.
