The Lavrov Rubio meeting on Ukraine peace talks concluded in Manila after more than 30 minutes of discussions between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to The Times of Russia, the talks focused on the situation in Ukraine, diplomatic relations between Russia and the United States, and several regional issues. Russia also reaffirmed its readiness to pursue a peaceful settlement while stressing its commitment to previously reached agreements.

Lavrov and Rubio Hold Scheduled Talks in Manila

The meeting began at 11:54 a.m. local time (06:54 Moscow time) and concluded at 12:31 p.m. local time (07:31 Moscow time).

According to a diplomatic source, the meeting was initiated by the US side.

Journalists were allowed to record only the opening moments of the meeting before leaving the room under the media rules established by the US side.

Before exiting, several American reporters shouted questions at Rubio. One journalist asked whether he intended to ask Lavrov if Russia was assisting Iran with targeting activities. Rubio did not respond.

During the Lavrov Rubio meeting on Ukraine peace talks, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Lavrov briefed Rubio on the current military situation along the combat line.

Lavrov emphasized that further arms supplies to Ukraine remain unacceptable from Russia’s perspective. He also reiterated Russia’s willingness to resolve the conflict through peaceful means and confirmed Moscow’s commitment to the agreements reached in Anchorage.

The two foreign ministers also discussed restoring normal operating conditions for Russian and US diplomatic missions.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, both sides reviewed practical issues affecting diplomatic operations and agreed to continue maintaining communication through their foreign ministries.

Among the topics covered was the situation in the Persian Gulf. Both delegations also agreed to continue contacts through diplomatic channels, including cooperation within international organizations.
