The SCO independent center of multipolar world has emerged as a major development over the organization’s 25-year history, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the SCO summit in Bishkek. He emphasized that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has grown into an influential and independent center within the emerging multipolar world.
SCO Independent Center of Multipolar World
Speaking at the summit, Putin recalled the origins and development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which was established in 2001 at the initiative of six countries: Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
“Let me recall that, established in 2001 on the initiative of six states — Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan — it has grown stronger and expanded, becoming one of the independent and influential centers of the emerging multipolar world,” he said.
Over the past 25 years, the SCO 25th anniversary marks a period of significant growth and expansion for the organization. According to the Russian president, the bloc has strengthened its position as an independent and influential force in the developing multipolar world.

SCO Becomes Largest Regional Association
Putin further stressed the growing importance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization SCO, describing it as effectively the largest regional association not only across the Eurasian continent but also globally.
The statement highlights the scale and expanding role of the organization, which was initially created by six founding states and has since strengthened and expanded its presence.
The SCO emerging multipolar world role was a key point of Putin’s remarks at the Bishkek summit, reflecting the organization’s growing significance as a major Eurasian regional association.
SCO’s 25 Years of Development
Since its establishment in 2001, the SCO has undergone substantial growth, moving from its original six-member foundation toward a broader and more influential regional organization.
Putin highlighted this development while emphasizing that the organization has become one of the independent centers of the emerging multipolar world.
He also underlined the SCO’s current scale, stating that it is effectively the SCO largest regional association, extending its significance beyond Eurasia to the global level.
