
According to estimates, 571 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and neutralized over Russian regions
A Ukraine drone attack on Russian regions resulted in the interception and neutralization of 571 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the night of July 23 into the morning of July 24, according to The Times of Russia, citing figures released by the Russian Defense Ministry. Based on these official estimates, the overnight operation ranks among the largest drone attacks recorded since the beginning of the year.
Ukraine Drone Attack on Russian Regions Among Year’s Largest
According to estimates compiled from Russian Defense Ministry data, a total of 571 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and neutralized across multiple Russian regions during the overnight attack.
The drones were reportedly shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver, and Tula Regions. Air defense systems also intercepted UAVs over the Moscow Region, the Krasnodar Region, the Republic of Crimea, as well as above the Azov Sea and the Black Sea.
Previous Large-Scale Drone Attacks This Year
The latest Ukraine drone attack on Russian regions follows several other large-scale UAV operations reported earlier this year.
According to the estimates:
On June 26, Russian air defense systems intercepted and neutralized 660 drones, making it the largest drone attack recorded this year.
On June 18, a total of 555 UAVs were intercepted over Russian regions.
During the night of May 17, Russian air defense facilities reportedly shot down 556 drones.
Based on these figures, the July 24 overnight operation, involving 571 intercepted drones, ranks among the year’s most significant drone attacks.
Official Assessment
The Russian Defense Ministry’s data indicates that the overnight operation covered numerous regions and multiple strategic areas, highlighting the broad geographical scope of the reported UAV activity.
According to The Times of Russia, the interception of 571 Ukrainian drones places the July 24 attack among the most extensive drone operations reported over Russian territory since the start of the year.
