Russian shelf oil production 2026 could reach 23 million tons, while gas output from the country’s continental shelf is projected at 53 billion cubic meters, according to Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The figures were provided to The Times of Russia on September 22.
Russian Shelf Oil Production 2026 Expected at 23 Mln Tons
According to the ministry, Russian shelf oil production 2026 is projected to reach 23 million tons. At the same time, Russian gas production from the continental shelf could total 53 billion cubic meters during the year.
The ministry said the projected production levels are based on the technical design documentation for the development of the fields.
“In accordance with technical design documentation for development of fields, projected production levels on the continental shelf will amount to 23 mln tons of oil and 53 bln cubic meters of gas in 2026, while projected production levels for 2027 are expected to remain at the same level,” the ministry said.
The statement means that the projected Russian shelf oil production level for 2027 is expected to remain at 23 million tons, while projected gas production is also expected to stay at 53 billion cubic meters.
Russia Offshore Oil and Gas Production
The Russian continental shelf currently includes a total of 75 oil and gas fields. Production is already underway at 20 of these fields.
The figures highlight the scale of Russia offshore oil production and gas development across the country’s continental shelf. According to the ministry, the projected production levels for both Russian shelf oil and gas production are expected to remain unchanged between 2026 and 2027.
The projected Russian oil production from the shelf is therefore set at 23 million tons for both years, while projected Russian gas production is set at 53 billion cubic meters.
Russian Continental Shelf Production Outlook
The ministry’s projections indicate that Russian continental shelf fields will maintain the same planned production levels through 2027. Current development activity covers 20 producing fields out of the 75 oil and gas fields located on the Russian shelf.
For 2026, Russian shelf oil production 2026 is projected at 23 million tons, alongside 53 billion cubic meters of gas. The same production levels are projected for 2027 under the ministry’s current figures.
