Russian President Highlights Role of Islam in Strengthening National Harmony Amid Global Challenges

Moscow, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Supreme Mufti Talgat Tajuddin, Chairman of the Central Spiritual Authority of Muslims of Russia, to discuss interfaith unity, national harmony, and the challenges facing the country.

President Putin expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the Muslim community to Russia’s social fabric, emphasizing their role in strengthening the nation, especially during difficult times.

“First of all, I am very glad to see you,” said Putin. “Secondly, I would like to express words of gratitude to you personally, and to all representatives of Islam. Islam is an organic, natural part of Russia, of Russian society. Your contributions, along with other spiritual leaders, to interfaith unity and harmony in the Russian Federation are invaluable.”

The Russian leader acknowledged the challenges the country faces but noted that diversity remains a source of strength.

“We may seem like a complex country at first glance, but in reality, when Russia faces difficulties—especially external ones—we become even stronger. Representatives of Islam have always played a significant role in this unity, helping us overcome threats and ensuring Russia moves forward,” he added.

Supreme Mufti Tajuddin, in response, reaffirmed the Muslim community’s support for the Russian leadership and its efforts to maintain stability.

“Thank you, our dear President Vladimir Vladimirovich,” he said. “Not only did we agree to meet, but we have been together since the first day you announced the special military operation. Such decisions are difficult for a head of state, who bears responsibility before God, the Lord of the worlds, before his people, and before all humanity. It did not come easily.”

He further described the special military operation as an effort to restore divine, spiritual, and moral order in the world.

During the meeting, Mufti Tajuddin also conveyed greetings from His Highness King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, informing Putin that part of his delegation had arrived from Bahrain.

President Putin acknowledged the message, thanking the King of Bahrain for his warm regards.
