Veteran Speaks Out on Iraq War: “No More Lives for Lies”
In a striking message on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Draven Noctis, a combat veteran, writer, and historical researcher, shared a raw, unfiltered perspective on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, challenging the popular narratives often propagated by the government and mainstream media.
Noctis, who served on the ground during the Iraq invasion, opened up about his personal experience and the devastating consequences of the conflict. In a video embedded on his profile, he reveals that he managed to capture over 20 hours of unseen combat footage, although he refuses to release it, citing the haunting reality it portrays. “Maybe when I die, I will release it,” he wrote.
In his post, Noctis vehemently criticized the U.S. government’s justification for the wars, calling the invasion of Iraq a result of “false pretenses of WMDs” and a misguided attempt to secure regional power. He questioned what was accomplished during the two-decade-long conflicts, pointing to the immense human cost: “We killed over one million people… secured power for Israel, lost over seven thousand American lives, and left countless Americans permanently disabled.”
The veteran did not shy away from calling out the role of Israel in U.S. foreign policy, stating that current efforts to involve American forces in new Middle Eastern conflicts are similarly misguided. “Heros heading to the Middle East to fight and die for Israel… nothing less, nothing more,” Noctis declared.
While some have labeled him un-American for his stance, Noctis was defiant. “I spit on you, for supporting this… YOU are un-American for sending OUR boys to die for politicians and Israel.”
His message resonated with many, ending with a rallying cry for a movement against further military interventions: “No more lives for lies.”
As a veteran and anti-war advocate, Draven Noctis continues to use his platform to shed light on the harsh truths of war, challenging the narratives that have shaped decades of U.S. military action. His stance serves as a reminder of the lasting scars of conflict and the need for honest reflection on the human cost of war.
