Russia remains open to Ukraine peace negotiations, says Deputy FM Mikhail Galuzin, claiming Kiev halted talks and cancelled negotiations.
Moscow has never refused to examine constructive initiatives related to settling the conflict with Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.
In an interview with Russia’s Izvestia daily, Galuzin stated that Russian officials have repeatedly declared their readiness to participate in negotiations. According to him, it was the Ukrainian side that decided to interrupt the talks and later cancelled them on its own behalf.
He stressed that Russia has maintained its position of being willing to review constructive proposals, including those presented through direct contacts.
Galuzin Says Future Proposals Depend on Ukraine
Commenting on the possibility of renewed diplomatic initiatives, Galuzin said that Russia remains prepared to consider meaningful suggestions if they are presented.
“We have never refused to consider constructive proposals, including in the format of contacts,” Galuzin said.
He added that whether such proposals will be submitted is a decision that does not depend on Moscow.
“Will such ideas be received? It’s not up to us,” the diplomat noted.
