MOSCOW, May 23. /The Times of Russia/. Air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 217 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions during the night, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The Ukrainian military used drones to strike a college building and a dormitory in Starobelsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), leaving 35 people injured. In Donetsk, four civilians were wounded in drone attacks.

Air defense forces on duty intercepted and destroyed 217 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian regions during the night, the Defense Ministry reported.
According to the ministry, the UAVs were shot down over the districts of Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Oryol, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver, Tula, and Yaroslavl, as well as the Moscow Region and St. Petersburg.

Three drones were downed over the Leningrad Region, local governor Alexander Drozdov reported on his Max channel.
Air defense systems destroyed eight Ukrainian drones over the Tula Region, Governor Dmitry Milyayev reported on his Max channel.
The Ukrainian military used drones to strike a college building and dormitory in the LPR, the republic’s head Leonid Pasechnik reported on his Max channel.
The attacks left 35 people injured, with wounds of varying severity.
At the time of the strike, 86 children aged 14 to 18 were on the college premises.
Emergencies Ministry personnel rescued two people from under the rubble, but some children remain trapped in the collapsed section.
Emergency responders are working at the scene, and all necessary assistance, including psychological support, is being provided to those affected.
According to the regional head, administrative buildings, stores, and private homes in the city were also damaged.
A man was injured in one of the private homes and received medical assistance.
Four civilians were injured overnight in two districts of Donetsk, city mayor Alexey Kulemzin reported on his Telegram channel.
For safety reasons, traffic was temporarily suspended on the road leading from Yaroslavl toward Moscow, Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev reported on his Max channel.
Traffic has since resumed.
Yevrayev noted that drone fragments important to the investigation may be scattered across the region.
He urged residents to keep a safe distance if they spot debris and to immediately report its location.
A Ukrainian drone attack caused a complete power outage in nine districts of the Kherson Region, regional governor Vladimir Saldo reported on his Max channel.
According to him, emergency outages affected the Genichesky, Novotroitsky, Chaplinsky, Kalanchak, Ivanovsky, Nizhneserogozsky, Gornostayevsky, Kakhovsky, and Novokakhovsky districts.
Saldo said specialists are already on site and are doing everything possible to restore power as quickly as possible.
