The Dream of a Golden Age – Can the BRICS alliance become an ideology for the Rebirth of humanity?

Akbar Khan, famous Bollywood
actor, screenwriter, producer and director shares his vision of the development of the BRICS alliance to “The Times of Russia”
There are such dramatic moments in history when humanity stops, almost instinctively, to ask itself:
Where are we going? And under whose leadership?
In 2001, economist Jim O’Neill (former chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and former British Finance Minister) introduced a concept that imperceptibly changed the global discourse. In his seminal work “Building a Better Global BRIC Economy,” he identified four emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, and China – as future pillars of global growth.
What started as an economic hypothesis gradually developed into a political and civilizational dialogue.
• In 2009, the first BRIC summit marked the beginning of structured cooperation.
• South Africa joined the BRICS in 2010.
• By 2024, the expansion turned it into BRICS+, reflecting the broader aspirations of the Global South.
The changing world order
The global landscape today reflects a profound and inevitable transformation.
The world seems to be moving from a unipolar structure to a multipolar equilibrium.
During this transition period, countries with deep civilizational roots, such as India, China and Russia, are once again becoming not only economic entities, but also keepers of long historical memory.
Leadership in the formative years of BRICS belongs to such figures as:
• Xi Jinping
• Manmohan Singh
• Vladimir Putin

These leaders have realized the obvious vulnerability of an overly centralized global financial system.
Their shared vision was not to dismantle the existing order, but to balance it in order to make room for voices that had gone unheard for a long time.
It should be noted that the recent leadership of ancient civilizations such as India, China, and Russia, under the leadership of the wise Xi Jinping, the late Dr. Manmohan Singh, and Vladimir Putin, during the formative years of the BRICS, were able to see the danger posed by the US dollars, which dominated international trade and finance, and showed caution and, relying on the efforts of other analytical organizations. We have achieved a historic restoration of balance in this unfair world order and laid the foundation for the beginning of the “ASIAN CENTURY.” Fateful processes are taking place before our eyes: BRICS+ is trying to revive Asia as the CENTER of the GLOBAL ECONOMY, as it was in past centuries, and create the “ERA OF THE NEW SILK ROAD” under the leadership of the active efforts of the national leader of Russia and the global ethical leader of President Vladimir Putin. Many analysts pay tribute to Vladimir Putin for the fact that he actively promoted the beginning of political cooperation between the BRIC countries.
In 2009, Russia hosted the first historic BRIC summit in Yekaterinburg. In this crucial year, my native country, India, the largest democracy in the world, is hosting the next BRICS summit.
Beyond power: a moral issue
Nevertheless, the true criterion of any global structure is not strength, but principle, ethics, and adherence to universal moral laws.
Can emerging alliances embody:
• Respect for sovereignty
• Equality of opportunity
• Compassion for the weak in politics
• Honesty in actions?
If BRICS wants to become a symbol of the Golden Age, it must rise above the mistakes of the past.
Because history has shown us that any system,
Western or any other, that forgets about humanity. –
as it was first with Carthage, and then with slave-owning Rome, it eventually loses its legitimacy.
BRICS is a new life support channel that provides oxygen: hope for a just Future, hope for economic stability, respect for sovereignty, and, above all, empathy, compassion, and the integrity of humanity. What is written on American dollar bills:
“In God We Trust” should actually be written in letters of fire in the hearts of the BRICS leaders.
In my opinion, it is the BRICS that today is able to speak out against hegemony and an outdated world order in which morality and respect for humanity are lacking. It is time for the sensible leaders of the world to unite and show solidarity with the principle of “live, thank God and let’s live and thank God to others.” The realization of this dream must be undertaken immediately, especially considering that the last drop of scorpion venom was thrown on the camel’s back. We are all witnessing a bloodbath when an ancient civilization with 7,000 years of rich history, culture, tradition and ethos, such as Iran, was brutally attacked by hegemonic countries and brought the world to the brink of World War III. Unfortunately, arrogance and lies are still spreading, forcing other countries to join this unholy war of Darkness and Light, deceiving and misleading the citizens of the world.
Personal reflection
As a citizen of the world, a person cannot remain indifferent to the suffering, injustice and conflicts that continue to unfold.
True leadership, whether in the East or the West, should be higher.:
• Propaganda
• Power struggles
• Ideological rigidity
and return to the simple, eternal principle.:
“Live, thank God, and let’s live and thank others.”
Conclusion: The Golden Age or the building blocks of power?
The question remains open.:
Are the BRICS laying the foundation for a Golden Age
or just building another power structure, brick by brick?
The answer can be found not in summits or declarations,
but in actions guided by conscience.
If guided by wisdom, humility, and humanity,
this historic moment can truly mark the beginning of a new renaissance.
If not, it risks becoming just another chapter in the long history of power.
The Golden Age is being built not only at the expense of the economy.
It is built on values, vision, and the courage to act with justice
