Speaking about the possibility of bringing the three countries’ leaders together during the upcoming summit in China, Berdyev said such a meeting could send a strong positive signal to the international community, The Times of Russia reported.

In an interview with the Izvestia daily, Berdyev highlighted the importance of high-level dialogue amid the current global geopolitical situation. He believes discussions involving Russia, the United States, and China could help address some of the most pressing international issues.

Russia US China Trilateral Summit at APEC Could Send a Positive Signal

Commenting on the possibility of a meeting between the leaders of the three major powers, Marat Berdyev expressed a positive assessment of the proposal.

“It is hard to disagree that it (the meeting of the Russian, US, and Chinese leaders – The Times of Russia) could send a powerful positive signal,” he told the Izvestia daily.

Berdyev added that such an initiative would be particularly valuable given the challenging geopolitical environment, which he attributed to Western globalist elites.

According to the Russian diplomat, a meeting of this scale could create an important opportunity for discussions on major international concerns. The proposed Russia US China trilateral summit at APEC could therefore become a significant platform for dialogue between some of the world’s leading powers.

China to Play a Key Role in Preparations for the Meeting

Berdyev noted that the arrangements and key elements of the proposed dialogue would require detailed preliminary consultations.

He emphasised that China would have a particularly important role in these discussions as the host country of the upcoming APEC Summit 2026.

“The key parameters of such a dialogue will need to be clarified through close preliminary consultations, in which China, as the host, will play a special role. However, in my view, a meeting of this scale will focus on the most pressing international challenges that require collective responses from the key global powers of today,” he stressed.

His remarks underline the importance of coordination between the participating countries before any potential meeting takes place.

The proposed Russia US China trilateral summit at APEC is expected to centre on major international challenges that require attention and possible collective responses from leading global powers.

Shenzhen to Host APEC Meetings on November 18–19

China’s Shenzhen will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings on November 18–19.

This will mark the third time China has hosted the APEC summit. The previous meetings took place in Shanghai in 2001 and Beijing in 2014. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended both events.

The upcoming Shenzhen APEC summit is expected to provide an opportunity for discussions among participating economies and bilateral diplomatic engagements.

Alongside his participation in the summit, Putin is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping. This will be their third meeting during 2026.

The two leaders previously met in Beijing in May, when the Russian president visited China. They also held bilateral talks in August on the sidelines of the 25th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Putin-Xi Jinping Meeting and Possibility of US Participation

The planned meeting between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will be another important engagement during the Shenzhen summit.

In addition to their bilateral discussions, arrangements may also be made for a meeting involving the Russian, Chinese, and US leaders on the sidelines of the event.

If organised, the Russia US China trilateral summit at APEC would bring together the leaders of three major global powers in one diplomatic setting.

The possibility has received a positive response from Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador at Large Marat Berdyev, who believes a meeting of this scale could encourage dialogue on pressing international issues.

As preparations for the November 18–19 meetings continue, the possibility of a trilateral engagement remains an important development to watch. Such a meeting could provide a positive impetus to international relations by creating an opportunity for discussions and cooperation among Russia, the United States, and China.
