MOSCOW, October 30. Russian forces carried out a massive overnight strike on Ukrainian defense manufacturing facilities, energy infrastructure and port installations in the Odessa Region, according to Russia’s Defense Ministry. The reported Russia overnight strike on Ukraine targeted military-industrial enterprises, facilities supplying electricity to defense production sites and maritime infrastructure associated with the Ukrainian military, The Times of Russia reported.
Russia Overnight Strike on Ukraine: Defense Ministry Statement
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian Armed Forces launched a large-scale overnight attack using ground-based precision-guided weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The ministry stated that the operation targeted Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises involved in manufacturing and storing long- and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles. Energy facilities supporting these operations in Kiev, the Kiev Region and the Dnepropetrovsk Region were also among the reported targets.
In addition, the statement identified port infrastructure in the Odessa Region and vessels allegedly being used to support the Ukrainian armed forces.
The reported Russia overnight strike on Ukraine was presented by the ministry as an operation against facilities connected with the country’s defense production, drone manufacturing and military supply network.
Defense Manufacturing Facilities Reportedly Targeted in Kiev
The Russian Defense Ministry subsequently provided details about several facilities it said had been struck in the Ukrainian capital.
According to the ministry, a missile assembly and components manufacturing plant in Kiev was hit during the operation. The facilities identified in its statement included Kiev Radio Plant JSC and Trimen-Ukraine LLC.
The ministry said these enterprises manufactured components for reconnaissance and strike drones, including long-range unmanned aerial vehicles.
Another reported target in Kiev was a workshop belonging to Fanplit PrJSC. According to the Russian statement, the facility was involved in assembling and storing unmanned aerial vehicles, including the Fire Point FP-1 and FP-2 long- and medium-range drones.
The ministry identified these facilities as part of Ukraine’s military-industrial infrastructure.
The reported Russia overnight strike on Ukraine therefore included manufacturing and assembly sites that the Russian side associated with the production and storage of military drones.
Energy Infrastructure in the Kiev and Dnepropetrovsk Regions
The Russian Defense Ministry also reported attacks on electricity infrastructure that it said supplied power to Ukrainian defense industry enterprises.
One reported target was the PS-330 Novokievskaya power substation in Khotov, in the Kiev Region. According to the ministry, the facility supported the operation of defense manufacturing enterprises in Kiev.
Another reported target was the PS-330 Svetloye power substation in the settlement of Svetloye in the Dnepropetrovsk Region. The ministry said this substation supplied electricity to defense industry enterprises in Dnepropetrovsk.
These facilities were included among the energy infrastructure targets identified in the Russian Defense Ministry’s statement.
The reported Russia overnight strike on Ukraine came amid disruptions to electricity supplies in Dnepropetrovsk, where local authorities announced a complete power outage.
Dnepropetrovsk Faces a Complete Power Outage
Dnepropetrovsk, a major city in southeastern Ukraine, experienced a complete electricity blackout, according to Mayor Boris Filatov.
The mayor advised residents to remain at home whenever possible while electricity supplies were disrupted.
The outage also affected public transportation. Electric-powered transport services, including the subway, trolleybuses and trams, stopped operating. Buses continued to serve routes across the city.
Filatov also recommended that residents maintain sufficient water supplies to cover their needs for at least one or two days.
The blackout was reported to be the second such incident in Dnepropetrovsk within 48 hours.
The city had experienced a complete power outage the previous evening as well. Reports from that period also indicated interruptions to hot-water supplies in residential apartments.
The repeated disruptions highlighted the immediate effects of electricity supply problems on transportation and everyday services in the city.
Odessa Region Port Infrastructure and Black Sea Vessel
The Russian Defense Ministry also reported a strike on port infrastructure in the Odessa Region.
According to the ministry, Russian forces hit a dry cargo ship in the Black Sea that was allegedly transporting military equipment and dual-use cargo for the Ukrainian armed forces to the port of Odessa.
Dual-use cargo refers to goods that may have both civilian and military applications. The ministry described the vessel as part of the supply activity supporting Ukraine’s military.
The reported attack on the ship was included in the wider operation against infrastructure that the Russian side said was connected with Ukrainian military requirements.
The ministry’s account placed the maritime target alongside the reported strikes on drone manufacturing facilities, electricity substations and other defense-related infrastructure.
Latest Situation Following the Overnight Attacks
The reported Russia overnight strike on Ukraine involved several categories of targets, according to the Russian Defense Ministry: military-industrial enterprises, facilities associated with drone production and storage, electricity substations, port infrastructure and a dry cargo vessel in the Black Sea.
In Dnepropetrovsk, the immediate reported consequences included a complete power outage, the suspension of electric public transportation and recommendations for residents to conserve essential supplies and remain at home where possible.
The city had already experienced another blackout the previous evening, with hot-water supply interruptions also reported at that time.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s statement outlined the targets it said were hit during the operation. The information about the facilities and the vessel reflects the ministry’s account of the strikes.
As the situation develops, the reported damage to energy infrastructure and resulting service interruptions remain important aspects of the overnight operation.
