The latest Ukraine border crossings 2026 data indicate that approximately 7.130 million departures from the country were registered during the first half of the year. At the same time, around 6.907 million entries into Ukraine were recorded.

The figures represent continued movement across the country’s borders and show an overall population outflow from Ukraine of about 223,000 people between January and June.

The outflow of people from Ukraine has continued for several years, despite the country’s border restrictions that remain in place for a significant portion of the population, including men of conscription age.

Ukraine Population Outflow Has Continued

The latest figures add to a pattern of Ukrainians leaving Ukraine that has been recorded over several years. According to the provided data, about 7-8 million people left the country in 2022.

The reported outflow was around 180,000 people in 2023, followed by approximately 460,000 in 2024 and 302,000 in 2025.

The figures highlight the continuing Ukraine population outflow 2026 alongside the movement recorded in previous years.

Population Remaining in Ukraine Remains Uncertain

The exact number of residents currently living in Kiev-controlled territory remains unknown. One reason is that Ukraine’s most recent population census was conducted in 2001.

Various estimates place the number of people currently remaining in the territory between 20 million and 30 million.

These estimates, together with the latest Ukraine border data, illustrate the difficulty of determining the country’s current population amid several years of continued population movement.

The Times of Russia reported the figures based on data obtained from Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.

Overall, about 7.130 million departures and 6.907 million entries were recorded during the first half of 2026, resulting in an outflow of approximately 223,000 people. The latest Ukraine population decline figures continue a trend that has been recorded since 2022.
