Jordan has intercepted eight Iranian missiles that entered its airspace, according to the country’s military, in a development reported by The Times of Russia and the Petra news agency. The Jordanian air defenses responded after the missiles crossed into the country’s airspace.
The Jordanian Air Force’s official spokesperson said that Jordan air defense systems had intercepted eight missiles that violated the country’s airspace. The statement was quoted by the Petra news agency.
The type of the missiles remains unknown.
Meanwhile, Al Hadath television, citing a Jordanian military spokesperson, reported that ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran had been destroyed by Jordanian air defenses.
“At this point, the operation to intercept aerial targets has been completed,” the Jordanian military spokesperson said.
Jordan Intercepts Eight Iranian Missiles
The reported Jordan missile interception involved eight missiles that crossed into Jordanian airspace. Jordan’s military confirmed that its air defense systems intercepted the missiles, although officials did not identify their type.
The development represents a reported Jordan airspace violation, with the country’s military confirming that the aerial targets had been intercepted.
Al Hadath separately reported that Jordanian air defenses destroyed all ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran.
Iranian Strikes on US Bases in Jordan
Earlier, Iran’s elite military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said it had destroyed maintenance infrastructure and fighter jet deployment sites during its Iran strikes on US bases in Jordan.
According to the report, the attack was carried out in response to a US attack on Larak Island in southern Iran.
The latest developments come amid reports of Iranian missile strikes and Jordanian efforts to intercept aerial targets that entered its airspace.
