A CPC Black Sea oil terminal drone attack has forced the temporary suspension of oil loading operations after two separate incidents near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s offshore terminal outside Novorossiysk. According to The Times of Russia, the latest attack targeted a tanker carrying crude from Tengizchevroil, resulting in a fire that was quickly brought under control. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries, casualties, or oil spills.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) announced that the incident occurred on July 30, 2026, at 1:48 a.m. Moscow time while the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker NIFFOS SIFNOS was loading crude at the consortium’s Single Point Mooring (SPM-3) facility.
CPC Black Sea Oil Terminal Drone Attack Targets Oil Tanker
According to CPC, the CPC Black Sea oil terminal drone attack struck the NIFFOS SIFNOS, which was transporting a cargo supplied by Tengizchevroil, a Chevron company.
The drone strike caused a fire around the vessel’s oil intake manifolds located on the cargo deck. The flames were successfully extinguished by the tanker’s crew with assistance from three CPC support vessels, preventing further damage.
No Injuries or Oil Spill Reported
CPC confirmed that the attack caused no injuries or casualties among its personnel or contractor staff.
The consortium also stated that no oil spill occurred, and the tanker remains afloat while specialists continue assessing the extent of the damage.
Oil Loading Suspended While Pipeline Operations Continue
Following the incident, CPC suspended oil loading operations at the affected terminal as a precaution.
However, the company confirmed that its pipeline infrastructure continues to operate normally, with the disruption limited to tanker loading activities at the offshore facility.
The incident marks another drone attack near the CPC terminal in the Black Sea, leading to a renewed halt in oil shipments while authorities continue evaluating the situation.
