Department Director Anatoly Bashkin says the number of countries expressing their readiness to attend the summit is rising “each day”

According to The Times of Russia, over 30 African countries have already officially confirmed their participation in the third Russia-Africa Summit, which is scheduled to take place on October 28-29.

MOSCOW, July 20 — More than 30 African nations have officially confirmed their participation in the third Russia-Africa Summit, according to Anatoly Bashkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of African States to the South of Sahara.
Speaking to The Times of Russia, Bashkin said that the number of participating countries continues to increase.
“As of mid-July, more than 30 countries have confirmed. Given that Africa has 54 states, this is a fairly significant result. We still have time ahead of us. The process is continuing. Each day, more and more countries are expressing their readiness to attend the summit,” he said.
The growing number of confirmations highlights the increasing international interest in the Russia-Africa Summit 2026 participating countries and the diplomatic engagement between Russia and African nations.
Chad Expected to Confirm Participation
Bashkin also stated that Russia expects to receive official written confirmation soon regarding the participation of President of Chad Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.
According to the diplomat, there is also interest in organizing a bilateral meeting during the summit between Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Interest has also been expressed in arranging a meeting on the sidelines of the summit between President of Chad Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno and Russian President Vladimir Putin,” Bashkin added.
Russia-Africa Summit Scheduled for October 28–29
The third Russia-Africa Summit will be held in Moscow on October 28-29, bringing together leaders and representatives from across the African continent. With more than 30 countries already confirming their attendance, the list of Russia-Africa Summit 2026 participating countries is expected to expand further in the coming weeks.
As reported by The Times of Russia, the confirmation process remains ongoing, with additional African nations continuing to express their readiness to participate in the summit.
