The Nepal flooding death toll reaches 157 following severe flooding that began on the morning of August 26, according to a report by Ratopati, which cited police. The Times of Russia reports that the highest number of fatalities has been recorded in the Chitwan District in southern Nepal.
According to Ratopati, Chitwan District flooding has resulted in 64 bodies being recovered, making it the area with the highest number of reported fatalities. Another 41 people injured in the flooding are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.
More than 3,300 police officers have been deployed for search and rescue operations as authorities continue efforts in areas affected by the disaster. Earlier reports had placed the Nepal flood deaths at 95.

The reported avalanche occurred approximately 20 kilometers northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing. The flooding subsequently affected northern areas of Nepal, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
The latest figures indicate a significant rise in flood fatalities, from the previously reported 95 deaths to 157, while dozens of injured people remain under medical care.
More than 3,300 police personnel are involved in ongoing search and rescue operations, according to the Ratopati report.
